The Leukaemia Foundation has a transport car which resides at the North West Cancer Centre Tamworth and can be used to provide transport for medical appointments and treatments related to your leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and other related blood disorders. It may be possible to provide transport to people throughout the New England region depending on your location and the availability of the car.
This service is provided at no cost to you, relying on the generosity of volunteers donating their time. We strive to provide an effective and equitable service that meets the needs of all our clients and families. Transport requests need to be made at least two working days prior to your appointment time – it is unlikely that we will be able to provide this service with less notice. It is important that you are able to transfer yourself in and out of the vehicle as we have a “no lift, no push” policy. A relative or friend is welcome to accompany you.
The program runs from 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday excluding public holidays. If you are unable to attend an appointment, or you no longer require the Leukaemia Foundations transport vehicle, please notify us as soon as possible (preferably 24 hours prior).
